MD International organized a successful event “MDI Health Expo 2022” on Oct 23, 2022 (Sunday) from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM Mountain Time at Genesis Center, Calgary, T3J0C9. MD International is an organization that advocates for health and health awareness, therefore the event’s purpose was to educate the community on all matters of health and healthcare. The event was well attended by community members who learned about multiple health-related topics from qualified physicians and professionals.
The event had two prominent and esteemed keynote speakers; Dr. Todd Anderson, Dean, Cumming School of Medicine, and Dr. Naweed I Syed, Professor and Chief Scientist, Cumming School of Medicine, University of Calgary. Dr. Todd Anderson presented an insightful and interactive talk on the topic of “Precision Health- The Future of Medicine”. The talk was followed by a series of questions from the audience who wanted to learn more about the topic. Another important highlight of the event was a presentation by Dr. Naweed I Syed, an eye-opener for many people on the topic of “Healthy Aging, Dementia, and Alzheimer’s Disease”. The presentation was followed by multiple questions from the
audience about brain fog and healthy aging. The event presented multiple unique and innovative opportunities for the community to learn and build awareness of health and healthcare. Dr. Mehwish Warsi (President, MDI) opened the event formally by extending welcome remarks to the audience. As October was the month of Breast Cancer Awareness, a dedicated booth led by Dr. Fizza Rafiq and the
team was set up for Breast Cancer Awareness with pink ribbons, awareness material, and pink crowns for audience engagement. A CPR presentation with a physical demonstration was another important highlight of the event. Eight workshops on women’s health, child health, senior’s health, men’s health, mental health, chronic pain, chronic diseases, youth health, and addiction were conducted throughout the day and led by teams of qualified physicians. Over 21 community organizations and healthcare companies had their booths at the event and shared information about their programs and services.
Dr. Fizza Zahid Rafiq (Board of Trustees, MDI) shared updates on flood relief and rehabilitation activities in Pakistan conducted as a result of fundraisers earlier in August and September.The event was sponsored by the Royal Bank of Canada, Islamic Relief Canada, Careica Health, Canada Diagnostic Center, and CGA Medical Imaging.
